All of the trails last for a two year period and judging is conducted by amateurs and professionals with only the best being selected as Rose Of The Year®. Some of the judging factors include: flower and plant form, colour, scent, abundance of flowers, health and ease of maintenance. Rose selection is 6 years in advance of its availability to the public to allow building up of stock levels for the public introduction.

Previous winners of this prestigious award are listed below and include the stunning "Rhapsody in Blue" which features blue-purple blooms that have to be seen to be believed. While the delightful "Penny Lane" was the first climber to be voted Rose Of The Year and it’s easy to see why. With its ruffled, informal petals of a pearly blush colour and continuous blooming through the summer and autumn, it really will make a wonderful addition to any garden.

Other winners worthy of note include the superb season long flowering "Golden Memories" which has semi-double blooms of pure soft yellow or the equally impressive floribunda "Champagne Moment". With an abundance of white blooms with apricot centres and great disease resistance, this rose will look wonderful in any garden.
