FLORIBUNDA ROSES. The word Floribunda is derived from a Latin word meaning ‘many flowered’ or ‘abundance of flowers’. These roses are described as one of the most colourful varieties of the modern roses. Their flowers are generally arranged in large clusters and do not grow as tall as Hybrid Teas. The breed is a result of cross breeding a Hybrid Tea and a Polyantha in the 1920’s. It is considered by many to be better than the Hybrid Tea as it produces many flowers over a large portion of the year. They are generally grown for display and not used for cut flowers as the stems are usually shorter than the Hybrid Tea. They produce an abundance of blooms and colour over many years, and because of this they are considered the perfect garden plant. See Rose Care Page on the Main Menu.
