Roses » Rambling Roses

RAMBLING ROSES. There is often confusion between Climbing and Rambling Roses. The short answer is very simple. Most Rambling Roses only flower once. Most Climbing Roses flower right through the summer. However there are exceptions. RAMBLERS. The majority of Rambling Roses only flower once, but in recent years there have been many new varieties introduced that are repeat flowering. CLIMBERS. A few of the older Climbing Rose varieties were only once flowering, whereas most modern climbers flower throughout the summer. Climbing Roses are more suitable for growing up walls and pergolas. Ramblers are better for trellis, arches and growing up trees etc.. Newly planted climbers or ramblers should be watered well in the first couple of years as they are often planted in shady or dry places. See Rose Care Page on the Main Menu. Also, What Rose Where ?
